BYTES DECIDES! Campaign Video
Congratulations! You have decided to/been forced into making what could be the most important part of your election campaign - the Campaign Video. Many famous political campaigns have been won on the back of a fantastic video. Your video should get your message across in a memorable way. Remember, the video should express a mood or feeling you'd like associated with your campaign. You can include your policies, but remember don't put in too much detail - or the audience will be bored!
It’s all about the market
Define and understand your target and design a message that they will find attractive.
This ad that was made for the Greens targeted their audience extremely effectively.
Go positive
Negative messages are risky. In this day and age probably too risky. Talk about what you will do, and how great life will be with your brand in control. Check out this ad from a Mexican presidential candidate.
What happens in it apart from lots of smiling people and flag waving? NOT MUCH! But it was extremely effective for the candidate
Be careful when using scare tactics
Ensure that fear campaigns are creative, clever and subtle. Yes you can do all three at once. It needs to be based on an element of truth from the existing market conditions.
Credibility matters
Remember no one trusts politicians. Use a reliable and reputable third party source to back your claims.
KISS
Finally, Keep It Simple Stupid! Don’t go overboard with information and content think of the Greens - their brand name says it all so no need to remember any of their policies.
If you can do all that the election is not guaranteed, but you are well on the way to getting more market share and having a bigger say in who does end up getting the pizza!
