Glorious Games

Students are asked to analyse existing games before accessing tutorials, and designing and creating their own game using a program called Game Maker. This game will then be evaluated by other students.  Game Maker is freeware and therefore free for anyone to download and install on their home computers.

No prior knowledge of the program is required, but students who have experience with Game Maker can build on their existing knowledge.

In addition, students are asked to complete a Research Report on one issue involved in the playing of computer games and how this impacts on individuals and society as a whole.
Game making utilises the full potential of the computer and requires skill development in multimedia and programming to achieve success. To develop a good game requires higher order thinking. Designing and making your own game for an audience is an engaging activity that embraces all the essential learning skills.
